Questions about our camps?

What ages and experience levels are at camp?

Camp traditionally has a mix, although we do break campers into groups based on age, ability as well as teams (if applicable). Camp is open to players ages 13-17, including the class of 2016 as of the start of camp.

We believe in teaching skill as well as an enjoyment of lacrosse. All players, from the youngest through our recruits, benefit from a focus on skill, systems, and developing a lacrosse IQ in a fun, but competitive environment.

What forms do I need?

A medical form and packing list will be attached to your confirmation E-mail. They can also be found below. The medical form must be filled out and brought to the first day of camp or sent to the camp director in advance. Preferred methods are by fax at 931-598-1673 or email at midombro@sewanee.edu (use LAX Camp Medical as the subject line, please)!

Are there any discounts?

The best discount is our early bird registration ($400 vs. $450). To simplify the registration process, we do not have a team structure requiring a set number of players to qualify for the discount. Anyone who pays in full by the May 15 cut-off will receive the early bird rate.

Should you deposit by the early bird deadline, but make a second payment after May 15, the full $450 fee will apply.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds prior to June 15 are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. Refunds after June 15 will be 50% of camp fee OR full future camp credit. Refunds after July 1 are full camp credit only.

May I use paper registration instead of online?

Yes, but please use the contact information and speak to us in person to ensure we are on the same page.

May parents and coaches watch camp sessions?

What if I have an emergency and need to contact my camper?

Feel free to contact them on their cell number or use our camp cell at 607-437-0292. If your camper does not have her own cell phone, she is more than welcome to use ours, at any time, emergency or not.

What is the staff to camper ratio?

For the goalkeeper mini-sessions, we are typically 1:1. For camp, 10:1 is pretty consistently our max.

When is camp check-in / check-out?

Camp check-ins and check-outs will be at the assigned dorms (to be determined and announced later). All players will check in on Wednesday, July 20th from 12:30-1:45pm. The first session is due to start at 2:30pm, after an introductory meeting / camp rule discussion. Lunch is not provided. All campers will finish on the field by 10:00am Saturday morning on July 23rd, and check out will be at the dorms.

How do I get to camp if I am flying?

Our recommendation is to fly in and out of the Nashville (BNA) Airport. You will need to book a shuttle to Monteagle through Groome Transportation (www.groometransportation.com). The shuttle runs from Nashville to Chattanooga, but you will book pickup and dropoff for the Monteagle exit. $35 each way. You will want to land in Nashville with time to catch the 11:45am shuttle on July 20. The best return trip would involve an 11:15am shuttle which gets to Nashville at 12:45pm. We would do pick up and drop off at the shuttle stop (about four miles from campus). It is possible to fly in and out of Chattanooga, but that is an eastern time zone airport and more complicated for catching the shuttle. Sewanee is in the central time zone.
